Berkswell Tennis Club

“Get out, get active!”

That’s the message from Berkswell and Balsall Common Tennis Club for all those looking for ways to keep fit and have fun at the same time. The family-friendly club based at the Lant Trust Community Centre in Meeting House Lane boasts six all-weather astroturf courts, four of which are floodlit, and offers extensive opportunities, both competitive and social, for players of all ages and abilities.
Social tennis sessions take place on Tuesday evening and Saturday afternoon and Coventry and Warwickshire league matches are scheduled throughout the year, with 5 men’s and 3 ladies teams competing at various levels.

For those wanting to improve their game, the Club employs four experienced coaches who offer a range of options for both seniors and juniors including regular weekly group sessions or one-to-one lessons. For more information or to sign up, please contact Head Coach, Stuart Davoile on 07779 147 639.

The club boasts an active junior membership where youngsters are encouraged to develop their skills by participating in mini-tennis leagues, ladder matches and parent and child tournaments.

The Annual Championships, featuring categories such as men’s and ladies singles, doubles, mixed doubles, 90+ and ‘teens and has-beens’, is the main highlight in the tournament calendar with additional ‘American’ and ‘Round Robin’ tournaments taking place on an ad hoc basis.

The Club’s incredibly popular Finals Days takes place annually in September, with the games usually getting underway in the morning with the bar open and BBQ lit from around noon.

Social and fundraising activities are arranged bi-monthly and previous events include a 80s disco, skittles evening, themed live music entertainment nights and the annual dinner and presentation evening. Tickets are now available for this year’s annual dinner which takes place on Friday 22nd October.  Contact Lucie Ray for more details on 07778 661501.

So whether you’re a beginner, ‘rusty racquet’, intermediate or advanced – go along and have a try!
