Children of 8 and 9 years from Balsall Common Primary School yesterday won the Aviva Tag Rugby Regional final at Worcester Warriors Sixways stadium. They secure a place in the Aviva Premiership Tag Final at Twickenham on the 31st May which takes place at half time during the Premiership Final in front of tens of thousands of spectators.
Balsall Common Primary School recently received an outstanding OFSTED inspection in all areas, which places it in the top 4% of schools in England.
Several of the children are also members of Berskwell and Balsall Rugby Club, who are currently running a comprehensive programme to forge links with local schools. In April the school team won a festival at the Honiley Lane based club, competing against several local schools.
This Saturday (3rd May) the club celebrates the school’s achievement at their junior presentation day, bringing to an end a successful season at the club which now sports a junior membership upwards of 200. This family day starts at 1.30pm and includes BBQ, Bouncy Castle, Bucking Bronco, Sumo, Gladiator Dual, Dad & Lads match and Medal Presentations. Entrance is free and parents and children interested in joining the club in September are welcome.
They are also taking a party down to Twickenham to cheer the children on.
