Oakes Farm Shop are the latest local business to become Event Partners for the Balsall Common fete being held at Meeting House Lane on Saturday 28th September 2013. They were keen to support the community event which depends heavily on the financial backing of companies based in the area.
Gary Oakes told us:
“We’re delighted to support this fantastic event. We’ve been thrilled with the response of the local community since we opened the farm shop and cafe at the beginning of this year and its nice to be able to give something back. We’re also selling tickets for the event and will have a stall there on the day.”
For anyone who hasn’t managed to get down to the Farm Shop on Balsall Street it really is a local business. As Gary explains:
“The lamb we sell is reared on our land, the honey is produced in our hives; cheese is provided by Fowlers of Earlswood, and our bread is delivered daily from Lewis’s bakery, which is also part of our family’s business. Our free range eggs are laid by the chickens who live at the farm. Even our coffee machines have been sourced from a Balsall Common company.” It is a true ‘family affair’ with Gary, Jayne and their four children all involved.
Why not come along and meet them on the day of the fete. Jason the butcher will be there. He has over 20 years experience having previously worked for one of the region’s most prestigious butchers. He’ll be bringing steak samples and demonstrating meat cutting techniques. Sylvia will also be bringing a wide range of deli produce to try. Popular items such as sausage rolls and scotch eggs will be on sale to keep up your stamina at the fete! Also there will be a selection of produce from the shop.
Oakes Farm Shop will be running a prize draw on their stall so even more reason to say hello to them.
Queens Park Preserves who supply Oakes Farm Shop will also have a stall at the fete.
