Bright future for Berkswell and Balsall Rugby Club as new head coach appointed

Berkswell and Balsall Rugby club are going from strength to strength. Promoted to the top regional league Midlands 1 in season 2011/2012, the club has secured extra land for pitches at its Honiley Road home and has appointed Jonny Lowden as head player coach.


Jonny, Assistant Director of Sports at Stratford’s King Edward VI Grammar School brings with him an impressive rugby pedigree having played at Sedgley Park, Leicester Lions, Coventry and Birmingham Bees and at the Natal Sharks in Durban, South Africa.


“I had no hesitation in accepting the job. We have a talented and committed group of players who have proved they can compete at this level – my task is to turn that into consistent and tangible results.”


“This is exciting times at Berkswell and there is a tremendous passion for rugby at the club with upwards of 200 junior players and a growing following on a Saturday we know the future looks bright.”


Sunday morning mini and junior rugby is offered to children aged 5 and upwards. A family open day will be held on Sunday September 8th from 10am-2pm.
