Journey into Space with Dramarama
Dramarama invite you to come along and have fun creating your own show! From Monday 21 July to Friday 25 July take part in rehearsals, making props and scenery,, practising stage make up, making a video preparing for a performance for family and friends at 7.30pm on Friday 25 July. Regular youthful attendees of Tuesday Night Triple Fret sessions at the Berkswell Legion will be showing off the fruits of a month’s labour by taking to the stage this evening for their Big Band Open Mic night. Our local talent will be taking on Big Band classics from the 50s onwards. Performers have been invited to dress-to-kill.

Performers have been invited to take on Rat Pack classics by music heroes such as Frank Sinatra, James Dean and Sammy Davis Jr, alongside Big Band works by modern day exponents such as Michael Buble.

New visitors are actively encouraged to come down and sign-in as guests of a member, as part of the Legion’s ongoing community membership drive. There’s also happy hour from 5:30pm prior to the big event in the adjacent lounge bar.
Balsall Common Primary School rugby team are celebrating their 7-1 win at the Aviva Schools Tag Rugby Final which took place on Saturday on the hallowed turf of Twickenham in front of a 81,193 strong crowd.
Boys and girls aged 7 and 8 from the top performing school have worked hard throughout the season with the support of Berkswell and Balsall RFC.
Planning for the 2014 Balsall Common Festival on Saturday 20th September 2014 and the cross-community organising Committee are currently recruiting members into their prize draw team. The event organisation overall works to the motto ‘By the community for the community’ and plan to put on a great event which also puts funds back into community projects.
“It’s going to take a big effort from across the whole community to achieve our aims, but we’re delighted with the enthusiasm and dynamism of the many people who are already on board helping us bring this year’s event to life.”

The Balsall Common Festival is the ever-expanding annual event staged ‘By the Community for the Community’.
The event – which started life as a fete and Party in the Park as part of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations in 2012 – aims to generate surplus revenue to put into community projects.
This year’s plans include a wide roster of entertainments, activities, refreshments and shopping, plus Balsall Common’s inaugural Fun Run:
