The Balsall Business Club is growing month by month. There are new recruits at each meeting, and business is starting to flow between members.
If your business covers Balsall Common why not join them? They meet on the third Friday of every month, and for £5 you get the chance to network with other local businesses and some breakfast. The next meeting is on Friday 20 February, to reserve your place, please book via Eventbrite. All you need to bring are some business cards.
Everyone gets one minute to speak about their business, and each month there is a guest speaker who gets a longer slot. Caroline Spelman is booked in as a future speaker.
Thanks to Richard Julian of Future Colour, the group now has a professional looking logo and leaflets.
Sandy Ameer-Beg of Balsall Common based Acclaimed Mortgage Consultancy has been named as Best Sole Trader at the Equity Release Awards for the second year in a row. This is a national award with winners selected via an industry-based nominations process.
The award follows hot on the heels of Sandy being recognised in the Times newspaper thanks to positive reviews from clients on vouchedfor.co.uk.
Sandy explained “My priority is meeting the individual needs of my customers, and it is great to be recognised for this. Making the right financial decisions can have life-long benefits. Getting it wrong can have serious consequences. It is difficult to know who to trust with your money and that is why independent reviews are so important.”
Reviews like this one from Jayne:
“Sandy has provided me with mortgage advice on several occasions and has always been professional, transparent and efficient. Her advice has been invaluable especially in relation to mortgage protection. After being diagnosed with cancer I was given support at a difficult time and Sandy’s advice paid off and enabled me to have a secure financial future when I needed it.”
Sandy achieved Top Rated status as a result of having over 15 positive client reviews on VouchedFor.co.uk, the independent website which helps people to find a trusted Mortgage Adviser, Independent Financial Adviser or Solicitor. VouchedFor.co.uk is free and easy to use. Visitors search for advisers based on location and services provided. Advisers are then listed based on client reviews giving those seeking advice confidence the adviser can be trusted.
Sandy and Acclaimed Mortgage Consultancy are keen supporters of events in the village including the school summer fair. She helped with a pancake charity event in February with funds going to a local charity, raises funds for the Brain Tumour charity and is official sponsor of Solihull Indoor Bowls Club.

On behalf of The Lily Mae Foundation, I just wanted to say a massive “Thank You” for your tremendous support for the first ever Balsall Common Fun Run on Saturday 20th September as part of the Festival of Fun organised for that day. The Charity was asked by the Balsall Common Festival Committee to organise the Run for the benefit of all those living and working in Balsall Common.
The runners and marshals commented on the superb atmosphere that you created along the route and at the start and finish line at the Heart of England School. Thank you for the many donations that you gave to the runners to be passed on to our Charity. Thank you too for the drinks, sweets and chocolate that you handed to the runners as they passed your homes.
Local charity, The Lily Mae Foundation, are celebrating new office space which will allow them to offer even more support to parents and families affected by stillbirth and neonatal death.
Having carried out amazing work from their own home for the last four and a half years, founders of the charity, Amy and Ryan Jackson felt it was time to reclaim their dining room and bedrooms and expand into a bigger space. Now they can continue to provide memory boxes to four local hospitals and have a venue for meetings and support sessions with bereaved parents and relatives.
