“Shoaib Akhtar, widely lauded as the fastest bowler in world cricket is on his way to Balsall Common to play cricket for Berkswell Cricket Club.

The 30 year old Pakistani pace bowling legend is undergoing rehabilitation following a stress fracture to his ankle. The injury, which has kept him out of competitive cricket for approximately 5 to 6 months has meant Pakistan needed to devise an imaginative plan to get him fit enough to take part in the 4th and final Test for Pakistan against England at the Oval in August.

01/06/06 – Paddy Doyle the brains behind new World Record Organisation

Balsall Common resident and world record expert Paddy Doyle is the brains behind a new World Record Association dedicated to ratifying sports only related records. The International Record Holders Association will record and recognise sports records at British, European and World levels across a range of age categories from 16 to 60.

17/05/06 – Paddy Doyle begins assault on more World Records

As if breaking 135 National, European and World records at different levels since 1987 wasn’t sufficient, Balsall Common’s Paddy Doyle is planning 2 more world record challenges in 12 months of tough endurance events.

Doyle is aiming to be selected again to represent Great Britain at the World Record Games in Germany and the World Record Challenge Games in the USA. Paddy is already in heavy training entering ‘ultra’ hill and mountain races against fell runners and endurance athletes to produce the fitness levels required for his two record challenges.
