Following on from concerns raised with us by local residents about what most preferred to describe as a ‘Police raid’ on premises on Station Road on Wednesday 30th June, we have procured a statement from the West Midlands Police in connection with the reported sightings as follows:
Detective Inspector Kay Wallace said:
“On Wednesday 30 January officers from West Midlands Police’s Child Online Safeguarding team executed a warrant on Station Road, Balsall Common.
“A man was arrested and subsequently bailed as part of this ongoing investigation.
“We appreciated that arrests of this nature can cause concern and we invite anyone who has any concerns about this, or any other matter, to contact the local policing team by calling 101.”
Local police have issued a warning after motorists in Balsall Common found themselves the victim to a scam that’s doing the rounds nationally. The Meriden and Bickenhill Neighbourhood Policing Team has received reports of motorists travelling on the Kenilworth Road in Balsall Common and in the Meriden area, being approached by a man claiming to have run out of fuel, with no means to pay for more. He is said to have been driving a silver Toyota or Hyundai car.
The con artist offered jewellery as collateral in exchange for a money loan. Following the exchange the victims have discovered the jewellery to be fake.
Police are appealing for witnesses following a tragic accident on the Kenilworth Road in Balsall Common on Friday evening (2nd November 2012). The incident involved a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian. Sadly the pedestrian’s injuries were fatal and despite the best efforts of the emergency services, could not be saved.
