Campaigner continues marathon High Speed 2 Rail walk

Lizzy Williams, the anti-high speed rail campaigner who began a marathon walk of the entire proposed HS2 mainline on the 1st of September in Staffordshire embarked on Day Seven of her walk today (7th September), continuing through Warwickshire.  Following a highly successful event on Sunday, when hundreds of people walked and rode along the Kenilworth Greenway to Burton Green, more events in Warwickshire and Buckinghamshire are being planned for this weekend [11 September].  Lizzy is walking the entire route of HS2 from Lichfield to London, before coming back to walk the spur into Birmingham to coincide with Conservative Party Conference in October.

29/09/07 – Warning! New Industrial Estate planned in Berkswell

Dear Local Resident,


The owners of Home Farm, Meriden Rd, Berkswell, who live many miles away, plan to develop the farm into a more profitable industrial estate.

The creeping development process has already started as bit by bit planning permission is sought and the industrial estate built. We thought the old farm was simply being renovated but it was changed into ugly metal clad industrial buildings. Afterwards planning permission was sought for change of use into offices and industrial storage. The old cow sheds are now industrial units and only now have the true intentions of the industrial developers become clear and we find out this was just the start of a much larger plan to develop the entire farm area into an industrial estate; New industrial units are now planned!

16/08/07 – Ticking Time Bomb

The land owner who owns the land behind the Saracens Head in Balsall Common has a ‘ticking time bomb on his hands.

He has a duty to keep his field in reasonable condition without it being a threat to horses lives, Ragwort is poisonous to horses. What happened to the Shetland ponies on this field? The fencing is also inadequate numerous of times these ponies have managed to get out of the field.
