Day 3 of the Bank Holiday weekend beer and music festival is about to get underway today at the Railway Inn next to Berkswell Station in Balsall Common. After two hugely sucessful days of beer, live bands, disco and karaoke there’s more live music on the final day today, this time from the Siberian Eel Hounds at 2pm, then young local band Contra, followed later this evening by the Slater boys and their Rumours Soul Suite disco.
Balsall Common’s local country market departs from its’ usual day and location tomorrow (Sunday 25th August 2013) when its’ traders turn out at Ye Olde Saracens Head from 1pm until 4pm, to bring local produce and crafts to the attention of pub regulars and visiting diners.
Visitors tomorrow will find the usual Sunday options including Sunday roasts and 2-course set menu.
The Berkswell & Balsall beer and music festival is getting underway right now (7pm) and runs through to Sunday at the Railway Inn next to Berkswell Stations with 12 real ales, outdoor bar and marquee, live music, discos and karaoke through the course of the weekend.

The 2013 Balsall Common fete and Party in the Park relies heavily on the goodwill and support of local individuals, clubs, groups and businesses. Without serious financial backing and logistical support form the business community Balsall Common would not be witnessing an event anywhere near the scale or quality planned for 2013.

Oakes Farm Shop is already winning rave reviews since launch in early 2013 and the family-run business has throw its’ weight behind the 2013 fete and party in the park. The Oakes family is on a mission to provide high quality locally-sourced products through their increasingly popular cafe and farm shop, including their friendly butchery, bakery and delicatessen.
Ye Olde Saracens Head
Ye Olde Saracens Head has been fantastically overhauled and reappointed in phases over the last 12 months and now enjoys the perfect blend of great layout and atmosphere both indoors and out, friendly staff and super-fast FREE wi-fi, making it a great place for meetings as well as eating out. The dining experience offers choices from the finest dry-aged Black Angus British beef steaks cooked in a charcoal oven, flavoursome fish dishes, or homemade pizzas from the 100% wood-fired oven. There is also a wide-range of fine wines and the staff know their way around the cocktail menu too.
Avion TSL is a provide sound stage and lighting for community and commercial events nationwide and have upgraded their offering on a sponsorship basis to give us a live stage, bigger and better sound, lighting and production values than in 2012, to give us a polished professional looking outdoor event. The stage and lighting will particularly come into its’ own as the light fades and the live musicians perform under the lights.

Acorn Printing used to be based in Balsall Common and the owners still live in the village, providing various print services including custom banners, school bags and a wide range of bespoke printed clothing, including branded gear for sports teams and businesses. Acorn Printing is a big supporter of local and charitable causes, including sports and community events.

Mogz and Dogz
Mogz and Dogz is a highly respected business based in Balsall Common providing dog walking and training services, including behavioural training, alongside pet-sitting services for holidaymakers. Owner Mark Young is a highly experienced dog handler following years as a handler/trainer for the Police.
Mark is sponsoring the 2013 event by supplying marketing and publicity support and and with the co-ordination, sponsorship and delivery of a dog training display in the main arena and separate dog competition in an adjacent arena during the day.
AJJ Marketing is a new business in Balsall Common set up by Amy Jones to offer companies the ability to outsource their marketing activity so they can concentrate on what they do best. Keen to get involved with some local events, Amy volunteered to help with the marketing for the 2nd Balsall Common Village Fete and is really enjoying getting to know more people within the village. Amy works closely with her clients to implement effective results-driven marketing solutions and is interested in talking to any business owners in the village who may need help with their marketing.

The Slater boys’ Rumours Soul Suite disco experience rumbles into the Railway Inn this evening with the added fuel power of two-for-one cocktails at the regular free disco which comes this week with a ladies theme. As usual the Slaters’ unleash their disco magic from the 60s through to the 90s from around 8:30pm so get down there and fill those disco boots.
