The Balsall Common Lions have teamed up with residents and local clubs, groups, businesses and charities to stage a Queen’s Jubilee Party on its’ designated National Holiday day on Tuesday 5th June 2012.
The event team, led by Lions President Marie-Louise Marsden are working on a ‘Party in the Park’ style event earmarked to take place at the Lant sports ground on Meeting House Lane in Balsall Common. The family event, which will have many attractions including live tribute bands, is expected to run from early afternoon and onwards into the evening. Marie-Louise said:
“We’re really keen to put on a party that will stay in people’s memories for many years to come. We have been delighted with the response from village organisations. We are keen to hear from anyone who would like to help either with their own stall or who has a couple of hours free on the day to help run the event.”

Santa Claus has been working closely with the Balsall Common Lions on their charity fundraising tour, meeting families and excited children in and around Balsall Common, with the help of his modified Carstins Cars powered sleigh. The last night of Santa’s pre-Christmas tour focuses on the Kemps Green Road estate and residents are invited to throw a few coins in the volunteer collector’s tins. All money raised from this tour of duty will be directed into local community projects.

Balsall Common Lions have got together with Santa once again for their annual fundraising tour, which will be spread across a wider range of dates this year to reduce the number of house calls after children have gone to bed.
Carstins will be stepping in again to provide traction for the sleigh while Santa’s reindeer remain in Lapland with the elves, who will be supervising training for their big night of strenuous work on Christmas Eve night.

The popular charity fundraiser always pulls in a bumper crowd and the well-drilled Lions team has fine tuned their fireworks display over the years into a truly impressive visual symphony of colour.
