Full-scale ground planning is now underway for the Balsall Common fete and party in the park in Balsall Common on Saturday 28th September 2013 and whilst some types of pitches are fully allocated event Chairman Marie-Louise Marsden is still listening to applications from clubs and local businesses if what they have to offer brings a new facet to the event.
‘By the community for the community’ is the motto for Balsall Common’s biggest event in 2013. A wide cross-section of the local community has come together to create a fete and live music event which aims to raise money for local causes.

14:00 Grand opening by Solihull Mayor followed by prize fancy dress (prizes by Balsall Common Taekwondo)

15:40 Centre Stage perform excerpts from the hit West End musical ‘Our House’

13:00 – 16:30 Free tennis for all ages (racquets and balls provided)

The ultimate covers band ‘A Few Good Men’ boast a line-up of musicians and vocalists with a string of Top 40 hits, having played between them in successful bands including the Electric Light Orchestra.

The ultimate covers band, our headliners are a highly accomplished four-piece band consisting two lead guitarists, a bass guitarist and drummer, all good singers which allows them to recreate wide range of lead vocals and harmonies from hits across the decades from the 60s through to the current day. At the moment we’re expecting the boys to take to the stage at around about 7:15pm (subject to change).

Dino Baptiste is a high-energy musician and regular performer at the iconic Jam House in Birmingham city centre. Dino brings a mixture of blues, boogie-woogie and rock and roll to life with his lively keyboards and vocals. Dino will be performing as a duo, keyboards, vocals and drummer. At the time of writing we’re expecting Dino to take to the stage at around 6pm (subject to change).

Animated Dance Academy
Animated Dance Academy’s all-girl Performance Team make a welcome return to our arena after last year’s display, since when they have performed at The Royal Albert Hall, Her Majesty’s Theatre in June and more locally Solihull Carnival, Solihull Dance Festival and the recent Dance Weekend at Cadbury’s World in Birmingham.

Giocoso Saxophone Quartet
The Giocoso Saxophone Quartet boast a wide repertoire making them a popular and sought after entertainment act for all occasions. Here we share a short clip of them performing at the Custard Factory in Birmingham:

Mogz and Dogz bring a dog display to the arena, a new attraction for 2013.
14 year old Heart of England pupil Liam Sawyer brings his BWR radio roadshow to our outdoor stage for music interviews and live games. BWR stands for Berkswell Windmill Radio, an online station which started with a one-off show in May 2012, originally broadcast in memory of Berkswell Windmill tour guide Stan Watkins.
Penny’s Fitness (Zumba)
Penny Smith makes her 2nd appearance at the event with her Zumba friends for a vibrant Zumba display.
