Hundreds of walkers will be descending on Burton Green from all directions this weekend as part of a massive ramble party organised by local HS2 Action Groups along the proposed route of the non-stop London to Birmingham High Speed line. Organisers have put together a programme of walks through open countryside affected by the route, setting out from places including Hampton-in-Arden, Balsall Common and Kenilworth and converging on a post-walk party at Burton Green Village Hall.

Time running out to challenge ‘unjust’ HS2 compensation scheme

A public campaign is currently being waged by the HS2 Action Alliance warning that the Government is rushing through an unjust compensation scheme in respect of the High Speed 2 Rail Link, which if left unchallenged could leave hundreds of blighted homeowners unprotected from property value slumps. The public consultation deadline for the scheme is 17th June 2010 and the group warns that property owners who think they have escaped the blight should bear in mind the final route has not yet been decided.
