Oakes Farm Shop are the latest local business to become Event Partners for the Balsall Common fete being held at Meeting House Lane on Saturday 28th September 2013. They were keen to support the community event which depends heavily on the financial backing of companies based in the area.
Gary Oakes told us:
“We’re delighted to support this fantastic event. We’ve been thrilled with the response of the local community since we opened the farm shop and cafe at the beginning of this year and its nice to be able to give something back. We’re also selling tickets for the event and will have a stall there on the day.”
Balsall Common’s local country market departs from its’ usual day and location tomorrow (Sunday 25th August 2013) when its’ traders turn out at Ye Olde Saracens Head from 1pm until 4pm, to bring local produce and crafts to the attention of pub regulars and visiting diners.
Visitors tomorrow will find the usual Sunday options including Sunday roasts and 2-course set menu.
One of Balsall Common’s best kept secrets is the weekly Country Market that takes place every Saturday morning at the Village Hall on Station Road. The market boasts a roster of traders selling quality local produce, including a butcher’s corner, jams, cakes, sausage rolls, garden plants and greens to name but a few.
The laid-back feel and presence of coffee and cakes, plus all-important crayon-corner to keep the kids occupied, all makes for a pleasant morning stop-off as part of the weekend’s activities.
