Organisers of Balsall’s Got the Voice have set their stall out to find top talent by sourcing a recording contract for the overall winner of an acoustic music competition which concludes at the Balsall Common Festival on Saturday 20th September. Qualifiers from tonight’s final qualifying competition at The Berkswell Royal British Legion (Friday 12th September 2014 – at 8:15pm) will join seven previous qualifiers in a race for the top prize on Finals Day.
Last minute entries are still looking possible with just hours to go so local talent is encouraged to turn up at the Berkswell Royal British Legion for sound-checks from around 6:30pm. The venue is on Station Road opposite Berkswell railway station.

Organisers of this year’s Balsall Common Festival have raised the stakes of their inaugural talent competition, ‘Balsall’s Got the Voice’, by putting a 12 month recording and management contract up for grabs to the ultimate winner, courtesy of new music Company Brumbeat Music Ltd.,
Festival Chairman Craig Burgess explains:
“We were surprised at the high standard of our first group of qualifiers and wanted to go out and find a prize worth fighting for. We’re delighted that Brumbeat Music were similarly impressed and put an amazing offer on the table for one lucky winner.”
Regular youthful attendees of Tuesday Night Triple Fret sessions at the Berkswell Legion will be showing off the fruits of a month’s labour by taking to the stage this evening for their Big Band Open Mic night. Our local talent will be taking on Big Band classics from the 50s onwards. Performers have been invited to dress-to-kill.

Performers have been invited to take on Rat Pack classics by music heroes such as Frank Sinatra, James Dean and Sammy Davis Jr, alongside Big Band works by modern day exponents such as Michael Buble.

New visitors are actively encouraged to come down and sign-in as guests of a member, as part of the Legion’s ongoing community membership drive. There’s also happy hour from 5:30pm prior to the big event in the adjacent lounge bar.
