A new venture, Berkswell Vintage, has organised a fantastic afternoon to treat your mum on Mother’s Day.
If your mum would enjoy scrumptious homemade cake and the nostalgia of vintage stands head to Berkswell Reading Rooms between 1 and 4pm on 15 March.
There will be afternoon tea with cakes made by the cake makers of the Balsall Common Country Market and organisers are combining them with a vintage inspired market.
The market stalls will have vintage clothes and things for the home.
Berkswell Vintage will be regular fixture at the Reading Rooms, and after the 15 March, the next one will be on 29 March. From then on the intention is to settle into the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.
If you have any questions or would like more details of stall holders and dates of future afternoons please like Berkswell Vintage on Facebook or email email@example.com.
Local tenor Karl Loxley is to appear on tonight’s BBC show The Voice UK. Tonight Karl will be performing for the judges, in the hope he can get at least one judge to turn for him in the blind auditions, from one of those famous spinning chairs.
Karl is already a published recording artist in his own right, professionally trained at the Guildford School of Acting and is also acting and voice coach for performing arts group Triple Fret in Balsall Common.
Karl was one of the stars of last year’s Balsall Common Festival and is a regular sight in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Karl is an undoubted singing all-rounder who excels performing a wide range of styles that include Classical, Rock and Pop.

Centre Stage bring their latest highly imaginative panto to life at The Heart of England School later this month as a host of hilarious characters come together for a weekender series of family-fun performances. Centre Stage Chairman Carl Hemming gives us an insight as follows:
“Our pantomime in January is a hilarious action-packed entertainment suitable for all ages. Characters ranging from the dotty Professor Crackpot to a toothless vampire who is frightened of his mummy! Add to the mix a party of schoolgirls to whom havoc is second nature,
an oversized dog, an orphaned girl and a handsome prince and the stage is set. Far from being scary Frankie somehow becomes the hero.”

Pupils at the Heart of England School have been busy working on a magnificent despicable giant mural for Balsall Common’s big bonfire and fireworks display, to be held at The Lant on Saturday 8th November, in a joint venture staged by the local Lions and Berkswell & Balsall Common Sports Association. In true Lions tradition the giant mural is set for a short life-span, scheduled as it is for destruction in flames at the front of this year’s bonfire.
Organisers have kept the economy’s inflationary pressures at bay by freezing all entrance-fees at 2013 levels, with event timetable and pricing as follows:
