The Midland Charities Association Christmas card shop has returned to Balsall Common library for another year. Their annual 7 week run is already well underway and will remain ope until Saturday 12th December 2015.
The shop operates during library opening hours as follows:
Balsall Common Lions have once again made arrangements for Santa to swing into to town on his sleigh to switch on the Balsall Common Chirstman lights this Friday (21st November 2014) at 3:30pm in time for a Christmas lights switch-on courtesy of the Lord Mayor of Solihull at 4pm. Visitors to the village centre are set to enjoy the usual festive carole singing, led by pupils from Balsall Common Primary School.
Visitors to the village centre can expect to find hospitality, generously provided by local businesses. Sweets, crisps and children’s drinks by John Shepherd Select and Select Lettings, sweets from Barnados and mince pies courtesy of Shane Collins Hairdressers.
Hundreds of people assembled on Station Road on Friday 22nd November to switch on the Christmas lights. Children from Balsall Common Primary School Choir sang festive hymns and the Mayor of Solihull lead the countdown, with Father Christmas in attendance courtesy of the Lions. Local businesses, notably Angela Jaynes florist, The Leisure Traveller (formerly Aeroscope) and John Shepherd provided mince pies and other refreshments to the assembled crowds.

The Balsall Common Lions are out and about again this evening on their annual fundraising sleigh-ride tour with Santa. The streets they will be visiting before bedtime are as follows:

Kelsey Lane (Windmill Lane to Meeting House Lane)
