Balsall Common’s Centre Stage are holding a presentation for their next production Cinderella and the Magic Beanstalk this Thursday evening at the Heart of England School. The New Year pantomime – written by Centre Stage’s own Yasmin Zahran, writer of last summer’s ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme and idea!’ and Co-director of this summer’s hugely successful interpretation of Madness-inspired West End musical ‘Our House’ – is open to new faces both back and front of house.
This Thursday’s presentation will discuss the storyline, characters, job roles needed, read through the script and explain the audition process, as Chairman Carl Hemming explains:
Balsall Common drama group Centre Stage have taken on their biggest and most ambitious production to date with the Madness inspired West End musical “Our House’, which runs at the Heart of England School in late June.
The event aims to build on the success of recent ambitious works such as the acclaimed self-penned Abba-influenced production “Gimme Gimme Gimme … an Idea ” and their reproduction of West End hit Calendar Girls. Centre Stage Chairman Carl Hemming explained a bit more about the production that includes the Madness hits Baggy Trousers, It Must Be Love, Driving in My Car and My Girl:
“After last year’s success we wanted to rise to the challenge and perform this magnificent successful Tim Firth musical Production.
“The musical follows the story of a young boy Joe Casey who has just turned 16 and in his bid to impress the girl of his dreams, Sarah, he breaks into a building site and is caught by the Police. It is at this point in the show where Joe Casey has to make a life changing decision to either hand himself in or run away. The show then splits into two, following the path of the good and Bad Joe.”
