Youth Development given spotlight at top sports club

Berkswell Cricket Club has put youth development at the top of its’ agenda in 2014 by launching a range of Youth Development Partnership deals to drive investment into creating more opportunities for youngsters and the best coaching for as many as possible.

The club already boasts three ex-professional cricketers among its’ youth coaching staff, but harbours ambitions to provide more well-qualified coaches to ensure no child is turned away this summer and the most talented youngsters are identified quickly and given the earliest opportunity of breaking into district and county sides.

Berkswell’s youth teams all finished first or second in their respective leagues through 2013 and their coaching roster already includes former Warwickshire professionals Dominic Ostler, Nick James and Jamie Spires. The coaches are really popular amongst their charges, and in Dominic Ostler, the boys get to work with Berkswell’s 1st team skipper, whom is also considered one of Warwickshire’s all-time batting legends, having won an historic treble with the county during the 1990’s.

Investors in Berkswell’s youth set-up can expect excellent publicity through the club’s rapidly expanding multi-media network, alongside great networking and social opportunities available via club events.

Berkswell’s senior side plays at the highest level outside the professional county game and as such offers a clear path into the professional game, as demonstrated by the progress of home-grown 21 year old Warwickshire professional Tom Milnes.
