Heart of England Retirement Organisation (HERO) is a support organisation for the elderly in Balsall Common and the surrounding areas.

This organisation evolved to provide support for the older members of our community. It began life as the Heart of England Home Committee where, over 20 years ago, local people got together to form a pressure group for a residential care home in the area. Their efforts culminated in the Michael Blanning Place housing for the elderly. The new group has Trustees which consist of some members of the original group and representatives from Lions, Rotary, Churches and the local community.

The group has some finance available from legacies left to the charity and provides support for concerns affecting the elderly in the area, either as individuals or as an organised group.
In the past support has been given to Michael Blanning Place, the Oaktree Day Care Centre, Village Hall and Meriden Cameo Holiday at home, etc.

Suggestions and requests for future projects for consideration by the Trust would be welcomed; these should be sent to the Secretary, Ann Crossley by using the contact page.
