We are thinking of moving to the area and have been looking at the crime statistics on http://www.police.uk.

We ar looking around Riddings Hill, Floyd Grove, Grovefiled and there seemed to be quite alot of incidents reported around these areas, can anyone advise what these areas are like please or which parts are the safest parts to live in/have lower crime

hi Brummo

Thanks for posting - welcome!

With regards to crime, the police.uk site reports 27 crimes reported in May, with 7 on the Riddings Hill estate, so I'm not sure this is any higher than the rest of Balsall Common. However, Riddings Hill is the newest estate in BC (not counting the garden grabbing) - about 10 years old. Housing density is quite high in places due to newish builds and flats, and the roads you mention quite long, so this could be a reason why it appears to be a mecca for crime (it really isn't!)

Neil.

Hi Neil, thanks for your reply.

It mostly seems to be Floyd Grove, i wondered if this is because it is a cut through to station road, with june and July 2011 being the worst months (6 reported incidents in July 2011 with 2 being violent crime)

I suppose its all relative though

Hi again
I think streets near petrol stations, shops, pubs etc get a bad rap due to the way the figures are compiled.
Don't have nightmares :-)
