I played for Berkswell in the 1990 season and was welcomed by Ian with open arms.

Batting with James Huckerby and seeing Andy Reid firing down some severe bouncers was a true joy!

It's true, Ian was more than just cricket - at 16 years old he made me realise that I had the whole world ahead of me....actually said just after I was clean bowled for a duck by the way!!!

A man who I looked up to for many reasons, not least because he loved his family and loved the young lads he was pushing to be the best they could be.

I raise a glass to you Ian, thinking of your family and dear friends today, and for many years to come. Cheers.

You know you’re in Balsall Common when …

1] Chav’s wear hoodies and repeatedly crash acid coloured Peugeots in country lanes

2] Buskers don't exist, 'Guitar Hero' hasn't as yet been marketed in a portable version

3] The tramp has passed on having frozen to death at the side of the road

4] Chav’s have, double or even triple barreled surnames like Hamilton-Jackson-Saunders, 2 asbos and 10 penalty points

5] Turf wars are the endless clean up of the KFC litter thrown from passing cars

6] Chav’s can hang out around at a wide choice of curry houses off licenses or hairdressers

7] Chav’s grow up in 5 bedroom houses, which now have little value since the announcement of HS2

8] The Police had to deal with 3 incidents in the village all year (non of which address the 'Meriden spawned' crime wave)

9] Drivers pull up alongside and ask you, “Excuse me, what idiot 'traffic ramped' a bypass!!!”

10] All you have to complain about is pretty much ignored by a 'Thank God Its Not In My Back Bard' government

Mr Bell,
Politicians talk a lot but this is normally followed by little or no real substance or action. Are you going to be any different?

What will you now do to stop the loss of the riddings hill green belt site being built on?

Glyn partnered me in my first Coventry league badminton match against Massey Ferguson. Needless to say we lost (down to me) but Glyn was still full of encouragement. He and Yvonne really supported me back then, and I have fond memories of playing in tournaments with them. What good days they were, and what good friends they were. As everyone has said Glyn was so kind and unselflsh. Rest in peace Glyn, and my sympathy to Yvonne, Ginny and the rest of his family.

One of the good guys without a doubt - i have many happy memories of Glyn both on and off the pitch - a true gent who made it his duty to help others feel welcome at the club whether on the pitch or in the bar.
R.I.P. Glyn and thanks for the memories

I was a member of Berkswell CC when Glyn Langton first joined and so have probably known him for around 40 years. As others have said, a genuinely nice man and one who I feel privileged to have had as a friend. I was a member of Berkswell's first tour to Bristol and district back in 1983 and well remember he seemed to be the recipient of the famous "Pith Helmet" more than most.
As well as being a keen sportsman, Glyn was extremely widely read and his head contained a wealth of knowledge which came to the fore during numerous quizzes in which we both took part.
Glyn was an esteemed member of the so called "Grumpies", a group of elder statesmen who meet most Tuesday evenings at the Tipperary in a somewhat frustrated attempt to put the world to rights and of course to down a few pints. Sadly last year we lost Bob McKee from this group and now, we have lost Glyn. Sad times indeed.
I certainly feel honoured to have counted Glyn as one of my friends. May he rest in peace.

Without doubt one of the good guys - a true gent. Glyn had a wonderful way of introducing lads into the workings of an adult cricket game, quite simply, never take a backward step! Many fond memories, rip.
