Craig Burgess is one of the original founding members of BalsallCom.Com who lives in Balsall Common. Once a keen cricketer and active Committee member at Berkswell Cricket Club, Craig also committed 5 years service to delivering the Balsall Common Festival to the community, including two as Chairman (2014-15).
Craig is also the founder of Balsall Buzz - the Marketing Consultancy that also promotes the best of Balsall Common and surrounding areas.
Balsall Common’s Centre Stage bring their hilarious Aladdin pantomime to the Heart of England School in the new year with a series of shows from Friday 25th January through to Sunday 27th January 2013.
The increasingly professionally run amateur dramatics group sees their talented cast return to one of the group’s more traditional staples, after a sequence of challenging and highly acclaimed productions, to serve up a great helping of family fun.
At a recent HS2 Community Forum in Balsall Common three potential tunnel options were revealed to community representatives. HS2 officials confirmed all the options were technically possible to construct but the final decision on implementation rests with the Secretary of State, meaning any or even none of the options could be selected.
Cricket and fitness coaching is coming to Balsall Common’s Heart of England School in a big way this summer as Complete Cricket, led by head Coach David Smith and former Warwickshire professional Jamie Spires, deliver their exciting high quality holiday sessions to youngsters in the village.
The Complete Cricket experience is designed to cover a full week, but with the option to attend ‘one-off’ days, kicking off with skills and drills for batting, bowling, fielding, wicketkeeping and general fitness, to net sessions, all designed to build participants towards the excitement of a 20/20 day on Thursday and World Cup Day on Friday.
Jubilee Celebrations at the Railway Inn Balsall Common
There’s been some interesting sights at the Railway Inn over the last few days as they prepare for their Jubilee celebrations on Tuesday 5th June, what with plans for the arrival of an outdoor stage to house headline act The Fortunes and people littered about practicing for their shows in their ‘Railway’s Got Talent’ competition.
There’s £100 up for grabs to the winners of the talent competition and outdoor facilities are being prepared front and back of house, including plans to house 60s/70s pop legends The Fortunes on an outdoor stage in the car park next to Berkswell Station from 8:30pm.
Berkswell’s cricketers take on Attock this evening at Meeting House Lane, Balsall Common, in the first round of the Birmingham and District Premier League’s 20 over knockout competition. Berkswell’s Premier Division side will be favourites to overcome their 2nd Division visitors from Moseley, although upsets are not uncommon in the 20 over format.
