Lions approach the end of another year of fantastic support to our community

The volunteers at Balsall Common Lions Club wish to thank everyone who helped at another successful Bonfire & Fireworks Event, including partners the Berkswell and Balsall Common Sports and Community Association.

They received many positive comments from people throughout the night and want to record their thanks to everyone who came along and the supporters for the evening – particularly Angela Jaynes FloristOakes Farm Shop and A1 Motor Store Balsall Common for selling advance tickets. A big Lions thank you to the event sponsors Jamieson Christie Alan Heath & Son Bathrooms, and Capellas, as well as our local schools for their hard work producing a fantastic mural. It’s a shame we always must burn it!

Thank you also to Carl Hemming, the MC, from Ginger Property and our friends Fast Aid who were there but thankfully they had nothing to do.

Finally, thanks to Berkswell Scouts and especially the ATC who with their youth, enthusiasm and energy were invaluable at the end of the evening clearing up after a very long day.

Next up will be the Christmas Light Switch-On on Friday 24 November,  . Santa arrives at 3.30pm & the switch-on will be at 4.00pm by the Mayor of Solihull Councillor Stuart Davis.

Then, of course it’s the legendary Santa sleigh tour in the village which this year starts on 14 December. Watch out for the Bugle which gives Santa’s itinerary, and keep your eyes on the Lions Facebook page as his specially-trained social media elves keep it updated with his progress.

All the Balsall Common Lions are volunteers, and their members fees cover any administration costs of the club. This means every penny raised goes to local causes except for donations to Lions International Appeals. Why not read their latest accounts which sets out publicly where the money raised has been distributed.

Just over £25000 was donated, an amazing achievement.
