On Saturday 13 June there will be a 1940s night at the British Legion. From 7.30 till late you can dance the night away and it’s all in a good cause. The night will raise funds for the RAF Benevolent Fund.
In addition to the evening event, everyone is welcome to come and sample 1940s music, tea and cakes on sale at the British Legion during the afternoon.
There will also be a team of beauty therapists available that afternoon to provide 1940s hair styling and make-up for a reasonable donation. An ideal opportunity for ladies attending the evening event to look the part.
For some ideas have a look at these beautiful images of 1940s fashion from Marie Claire
Otherwise simple tea dresses and shirt dresses will look great.
As part of his fundraising efforts Stefan Bird, the organiser, will be riding 100 miles on 1 August together with about 25,000 others, starting from the Olympic Park, through Surrey and finishing in the Mall, just opposite Buckingham Palace.
He said: “Having cycled in the event last year and raised £390 for the charity Mind, I have decided to ride again, but this time for RAF Benevolent Fund. I am a former member of the Royal Air Force, a retired Police Officer of 26yrs Service and currently work at Solihull College as an additional needs support tutor and NLP Coach.”
Tickets are limited to 120 and are on sale now priced £12 each. They will be available from the British Legion Club, Angela Jaynes Florist, Balsall Common and direct from Stefan, contact him on 07825288217
