Balsall Common’s first ever Fun Run takes place this Saturday. Coordinated by the Lily Mae Foundation, it will be a fantastic day for the village. 500 runners, aged 11 to 82 will be taking part, the majority of them are Balsall Common residents. 45 marshals (mostly local people) are supporting the event too.
Inevitably with an event like this there will be some disruption. Road closures are necessary to keep runners safe. Details of the road closures are on the map below, in the latest issue of the Bugle, in the Festival programme and have been delivered to all affected households.
If there is an emergency on the day or you need advice before hand please contact Geoff Heaps of the Lily Mae Foundation on 07960 199184 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Some of Balsall Common will be unable to be served by our 88 service during the event between 11.30am – 2.30pm
Johnson’s 87C Service to Coventry – During this period buses will need to omit Balsall Street East and Station Road. Buses will travel direct via Kenilworth Road and resume normal line of route towards the Station at Balsall Common Island.
Diamond 88 Service to Solihull – Diversion Route from Solihull:
Normal line of route until Oldwich Lane/Fen End, then Right Honiley Rd, Left Meer End Rd, Left Kenilworth Rd to Balsall Common Island. Turn at Island and return via reverse of above.
Drivers will operate a hail & ride stop near the Shell garage on the approach to Balsall Common Island & at Arden House opposite to board and alight passengers during the diversion period only. Please clearly alert your driver if you wish the bus to stop here and the driver will accommodate you where it is safe to do so.
Thanks to Dave Felthouse of the Balsall Common Residents’ Association for confirming the bus diversion information.
