Organisers of this year’s Balsall Common fete and party in the park in September are looking for individuals and organisations who can help make this year’s event a success. The Committee is after a wide range of help ranging from sponsorship, publicity, manpower, planning, technical and logistics.

The event on Saturday 28th September will take place at The Lant Community Sports Ground on Meeting House Lane in Balsall Common and follow the format of last year’s Queen’s Jubilee event in June at the same venue.

The aim is to build on last year’s success, provide a wide range of family-friendly activities, and bring in a range of new attractions to keep the event fresh.

Organising Committee Chair Marie-Louise Marsden, a prominent member of the Balsall Common Lions said:

“I am delighted to have been invited to organise this village community event again in 2013. The initial response and support already given to our 2013 Village Fete has been very enthusiastic and helpful, but we also know we’re going to need more help.”

Marie-Louise and her Committee are keen to hear from any local clubs or businesses interested in taking up stalls or putting on demonstrations at this year’s event as there is still plenty available space in the programme.

This event at Meeting House Lane, held in early June last year, has been scheduled for later in the year this time for reasons which Marie-Louise gives as follows:

“This year’s date is 28th September 2013 – so as to avoid a clash with Balsall Common Primary School’s centenary celebrations and also damage to the cricket field during mid-season – but in future the organising committee will be aiming for an annual event on the 3rd weekend in September.  We are very happy that the Lant Community and Sports Association, which is best known to many as the home of our local cricket or tennis club, is joining us in the venture.”

“We invite anyone to get involved during the next few months. We will also need help on the day. We’re keen to hear from anyone wishing to run a stall, showcase their group in our arena, or help with sponsorship which we’ll need to cover the pre-event costs of publicising and staging the event.”

Last years event enabled donations of well over £2500 to local causes.
