Today (Saturday 24th November) has been a big day for everybody at the Brickmakers Arms on Station Road, with a golf day in memory of one of the area’s biggest characters, followed by live music this evening courtesy of Ampersand.
Landlady Victoria Slim takes up the explanation;
“The ‘Lounge’ versus ‘Bar’ golf day at the North Warwicks Golf Club is for the Lollipop Trophy, in memory of one of Dad’s favourite nicknames for people, he would often call people ‘Lollipop’ or ‘Proper Kid’. Then it’s party time this evening with live music from the fabulous Ampersand.
Victoria’s father, known to most people as ‘Slimbo’ passed away earlier this year after battling with illness. His larger than life character was well-known to many, not only in Balsall Common, but in Birmingham too.
“He loved the pub, his family and his Bass” says Victoria “he was well-thought of by our Brickies regulars and beyond, so this is all about doing something in his memory. Everybody’s welcome to drop by for our live music this evening”.
