With the prospect of another jubilee party some decades away, it’s back to business as usual in the village: it’s time for Balsall Common’s Annual Summer Gala!
It takes place at Balsall Common Primary School on Saturday 23rd June from 1.30pm until 4.30pm. , and promises to be a fun afternoon out for everyone in the village with the bonus of raising money in support of the education of local children.
This exciting event is organised by the school’s Parent Teacher Association; a registered charity. This year’s theme is – what else? – The Olympics. The gala will as always feature many attractions and stalls. There will also be refreshments – Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, cakes, candyfloss and popcorn – all offered at reasonable prices.
The timetable for the day will be:
1.30pm – Official opening
1.40pm – Children’s Fancy Dress Parade
2.00pm – Berkswell & Balsall Rugby Club Display
2.30pm – Dance troupe
3.00pm – Animated Dance
3.15pm – Bugle Football Competition semi-finals
4.00pm – Bugle Football Competition final.
4.20pm – Egg Throwing (!)
4.30pm – Grand Draw and Competition Prize giving.
Local residents will shortly receive the Gala Brochure, an invaluable business directory containing adverts from the 50+ local businesses who support the event. The event relies heavily upon local sponsorship and the time and effort of numerous volunteers. Everyone is welcome; it is a great opportunity for the wider community to see the school in its full glory.
