
Local representatives of the Lions International charity are into the final throes of preparations for their FREE lion-sized Queen’s Jubilee celebrations in Balsall Common at The Lant Sports and Community Ground on Meeting House Lane. Visitors to the event on Tuesday 5th June 2012, can expect a family-friendly action packed event, with many child-friendly daytime activities, followed by a festival-style Party in the Park, headlined by Take That tribute band That’s Life, performing from the clubhouse balcony as the evening draws on.

The list of attractions and scheduled running times for activities and entertainment is listed below. The event gets underway at 2pm (gates open 1.30pm):
Balsall Common Jubilee – Main Arena

- 12 noon – Opening ceremony with Kirsty Leahy (Touch FM) and Fancy Dress parade
- 2:25pm – Zumba demonstration with Penny Smith
- 2:50pm – Streetdance act by the all-girl Animated Dance Performance Team
- 3:20pm – Kung Fu demonstration
- 3:35pm – Children’s Races
- 5:00pm – Raffle Draw
Note: There will also be a performance by Youth theatre group Dramarama outside the main arena in front of the clubhouse at 4:35pm.
Party in the Park (evening)
- 5:15pm – Disco
- 6:00pm – Abba Tribute (extracts from the recent shows of ‘Gimme Gimme’ Show performed by cast members from Centre Stage
- 6:30pm – Disco
- 7:00pm – That’s Life Take That tribute (Part 1 – from the clubhouse balcony)
- 7:45pm – Disco
- 8:00pm – That’s Life Take That tribute (Part 2)
- 8:45pm – Encore/disco/exit
Free sporting activities
- 14:00 – 16:00 Junior tennis coaching
- 14:00 – 18:00 Adult social tennis
- 14:30 – 15:30 Cricket – a chance for teenagers and youngsters to get in the cricket nets and test their bowling speed against the speed gun (prizes)
- 15:30 – 16:30 Tennis – a chance for visitors to test their service speed against the speed gun
- 16:00 – 17:00 Cricket – a chance for youngsters to play Kwik Cricket (a fun short-form variation of the game)
- 16:00 – 18:00 Tennis – rusty racquets coaching
