Berkswell & Balsall Common Tennis Club on the lookout for new members

Berkswell and Balsall Common Tennis Club is currently welcoming new members of all ages and abilities. The long-established club is situated at the Lant Sports Ground and Community Centre on Meeting House Lane in Balsall Common.

 

Competitive and social tennis players all welcome at Berkswell & Balsall

 

Berkswell and Balsall Common Tennis Club is urging Wimbledon-wannabes to dust off their trainers and restring their rackets to make the most of annual memberships, which run from 1st March each year.

 

The club boasts six astroturf courts, four of which are floodlit, a modern clubhouse with licensed bar and offers a broad range of opportunities, both competitive and social, for players of all ages and abilities.

 

Social tennis sessions take place on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons, with Coventry and Warwickshire league matches scheduled throughout the year for those with a competitive bent. Berkswell & Balsall currently field five men’s and three ladies teams competing at various levels.

 

The Club employs four experienced coaches who offer a range of options for those juniors and seniors looking to improve their game, with weekly group sessions or one-to-one lessons available. There is an active junior membership where youngsters are encouraged to develop their skills in a range of mini-tennis leagues, ladder matches, plus parent and child tournaments.

 

The club runs a well supported Annual Championships for club members, featuring categories such as men’s and ladies singles, doubles, mixed doubles, 90 and over doubles partnerships, junior age groups, plus ‘teens and has-beens’. This competition, which has its’ Finals Day in September, is the highlight of the playing calendar with additional ‘American’ and ‘Round Robin’ tournaments taking place on an ad-hoc basis.

Social and fundraising activities are arranged regularly and previous events include a comedy night, race night, music quiz, Caribbean limbo evening and the annual dinner and presentation.

 

So whether you’re a beginner, ‘rusty racquet’, intermediate or advanced – tennis is an excellent form of exercise and a great way to enjoy being active!

 

The club invites potential members to try the facilities before making the commitment of joining.
