BARRAGE: Balsall Against Rural Ruin And Greenbelt Erosion

The greenbelt land under threat

Hot on the heals of the local uproar when Solihull council seriously considered a gypsy/traveller settlement in Kelsey/Windmill Lane (now abandoned after local pressure was exerted), a new action group has been formed to oppose the development of a vast swathe of nearby greenbelt land.

BARRAGE – Balsall Against Rural Ruin And Greenbelt Erosion – oppose the development of greenbelt land between Kelsey Lane, Kenilworth Road and Windmill Lane.

This will lead to potentially 507 new dwellings -3 times that of Riddings Hill estate. Two plots of land are currently being considered for development within this area which the group believe will open the floodgates resulting in further traffic congestion and erosion of quality of village life.

The first round will be to bombard Solihull council with objections to the initial developments by 5th March. Concerned residents who want to join the fight should Email for for further details.
