Watch Balsall Common’s Carole and family in ITV’s 60 Minute Makeover
The new series of ITV’s popular makeover show is now back on the TV. The first episode was aired on April 14th and featured Balsall Common’s Carole and family:
“Sophie Robinson and the team are in Balsall Common in Coventry at the home of Carole, who has suffered from a rare form of cancer for the past seven years. Her illness has hampered any chances of home decoration so her daughters Naomi and Pippa decided to give their brave mum a lift with a home that can be a sanctuary for her.”
Sophie Richardson has blogged on the episode
There is also a page on the ITV website.
Balsall Common Primary School head in serious accident
Parents of children at BCPS recieve regular emails about the school. We felt that this one was of interest to everyone in the community:

“I am sorry to inform you that Mr Burgess was involved in a serious accident on his motorbike on Saturday 16th April. He sustained a serious back injury and multiple fractures of his ribs and was air lifted to Walsgrave Hospital. Due to his back injury it is likely that he will be immobilised there for several weeks.
As it is clear that he will not be returning to work in the immediate future, I have discussed options with Mrs Davies over the weekend and we have agreed that she will assume the role of Acting Head Teacher with immediate effect. This will allow the school to continue running as normal in her highly capable and experienced pair of hands together with support from the other leadership team members. This situation will be reviewed once Mr Burgess’s recovery becomes clearer. I hope this will reassure you, as parents, that there should be little visible difference in the day-to-day running of the school, the teaching of our children and the school’s many other activities.
I am also sure that you will join with me in wishing Mr Burgess a very speedy recovery and our thoughts are also with his family at this difficult time.
Yours sincerely
Gary Sawyer
