Rugby: Berkswell suffer defeat at hands of Bedworth

Steve Wake reports on Berkswell’s Midlands West 2 (South) trip to Bedworth on Saturday 22nd January:

Bedworth – 48     Berkswell & Balsall – 13

Bedworth handed out a lesson in finishing and three-quarter play, to an unusually disorganized Berkswell side. What had been a relatively close game up until the 35th minute suddenly became a rout, as the home side scored two converted tries in the minutes before halftime; turning a 12-6 advantage into 26-6 at the break.

The visiting forwards kept the home pack under pressure for the whole game, but Bedworth’s three-quarters – prompted by an excellent display from their Fly-Half – ran amok with seven tries to Berkswell’s one. After last week’s solid performance, it was an out of character performance from B’s usually strong defence.
