Residents take action over bus cutbacks

Balsall Common Village Residents Association will be making representations about the devastation wreaked on local bus services by local operators during the summer at tomorrow night’s Solihull Transport Users’ Forum at the Council Chamber at the Civic Centre in Solihull (Tuesday 26th October commencing at 6.00pm). The move follows impractical timetable alterations and the complete withdrawal of vital regular services from Berkswell and Meriden into Balsall Common and Solihull.

The summer changes left many villagers in Berkswell and Meriden cut off from amenities in Balsall Common and Solihull, or struggling to get to work, with Berkswell being particularly hard hit having recently also lost its’ Post Office. Alan Head of the Residents Association says,

“This is a chance to raise awareness, point to the lack of consultation and failings of the new service, like the fact the new timings fail to connect properly with local train services.”

He also says support would be welcome at the meeting, which members of the public are allowed to attend,

“As with all issues of concern it adds weight to any argument when there is good representation from the community”.
