Cycling: Matt Clinton aims for honours at National Hill Climb Championship

Balsall Common’s Matt Clinton will be hoping he can go one better than last year as he takes on defending champion Dan Fleeman at the RTTC National Hill Climb Championship title tomorrow (Sunday 31st October). Last year’s runner up Clinton knows he’ll have his work cut out as he tackles the brutal Dover’s Hill in Gloucestershire against an array of tough competitors including former Champion James Dobbin and this year’s Catford Hill Climb winner Robert Gough.

The 150 strong field will set off up the evil 1487 yard climb at intervals, with the first rider leaving the gate at 11.01 am and defending Champ Fleeman going last at 1.30pm. For anyone looking for an interesting diversion for the day, The Dover’s Hill Challenge can be found at Weston-Sub-Edge in Gloucestershire and parking will be available, some at the finish, along with facilities such as toilets, refreshment stands and the all-important results board.
