Changes to bus services through Balsall Common

Balsall Common Village Residents Association have contacted us with information on significant changes to village bus services which came into effect yesterday (Monday 26 July 2010). The Association has had to work hard to obtain this information and has been been particularly critical of the lack of information from bus operators.

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO BUS SERVICES
FROM BALSALL COMMON

Commencing Monday 26 July 2010
As you are probably aware, National Express Coventry have dropped the service 82 and
Centro will not replace it in this area. Central Connect will now operate the new service 82
between Solihull and Coventry but to a revised route. It will run from Solihull through
Hampton-in-Arden to Meriden and then along the A45 etc. to Coventry. The service will
NOT travel between Meriden and Balsall Common.
Centro have arranged for a new sponsored bus service 81 between Balsall Common and
Coventry which will be operated by National Express Coventry. This service will be extended
from Balsall Common Island to Berkswell Station. Please Note that connections to
Birmingham bound trains at Berkswell Station are rarely practical. Also the 81 service from
Coventry does not connect with the S2A (OK for S2C) but it may just be possible to connect
with the S2A if you change at Blacksmith’s Corner. Timings seem suitable for connections
between both S2A and S2C at Balsall Common Island for onward travel towards Alder Lane
etc. on service 81.

Comments

  1. On 26th July I sent an e-mail to Centro and Cllr. Bell about the 81 bus service and connections or lack of with trains. I spent some time analysing the connections with train arrivals and departures and made some suggestions. Having received no reply I sent the e-mail again on 6th August. Are these people supposed to respond to or even acknowledge correspondence?
