11/06/2009 – Paddy Doyle bricks Guiness World Record

“Balsall Common resident Paddy Doyle recently reclaimed one of his own Guinness World Records with yet another staggering feat of endurance.

Doyle completed 80.372 miles (129.347 km) in 17 hours carrying a 10lb brick in one hand (with a hideously diificult downward facing grip) plus 15lb backpack, to reclaim a record taken from him by Sri Lankan Suresh Joachim.

Through sheer determination Paddy drew on every last drop of strength to complete his endurance challenge with the support of pacers, officials and walkers as he trecked along the Strattford-upon-Avon canal and Monarch’s Way Path.

Paddy fought off foot blisters, shoulder muscle strain and lower back pain to complete his heroic challenge.
