16/11/05 – Local anglers to play in triangular team ‘Fish-Off’

CraigyB writes “Teams from the Brickmakers Arms, the Railway Inn and the Royal British Legion are set to do battle in a bid to become the leading ‘fish-catching booze-bar’ team in the area.

The match came about when the Station Road based Royal British Legion learned of the recent formation of the Railway Rodbenders, based across the road at the Railway Inn. They decided to challenge the Brickmakers Arms, also on Station Road, to a King of the Balsall Boozebar’s fish-catching face-off.

There will be no fishing taking place on any of these establishment’s premises and the ‘big match’ due to be played this coming Saturday will be played at a local venue containing lots of water and lots of fish.

We spoke to Andy of the The Railway Rodbenders who told us,

“We’re a new team aiming to play one match per month, with a mixture of team and individual challenges”.

And keen anglers should note the Railway angling gang are looking out for anyone interested in getting involved.

“You don’t have to be a Railway regular to join us” says Andy.

Anyone interested in joining the Railway Rodbenders should contact Andy on 07786 678138
