Leamington 10 v BBRFC 7
The first 20 minutes of play didn’t venture far from the half way line. Very good defensive play from both sides.
Our first injury came in the 10th minute with Adam Green going off with an injured knee, Patrick Fahy replaced him. The first try came in the 31st minute it was a direct runner between 10 and scrum resulting in A Hunt scoring for Leamington but no conversion.
In the 34th minute we went down to 14 men with James Munday going off with an injured ankle. B’s remained positive and a miss move to Phez at outside centre who broke line off loaded to Dewer who resulted in scoring B’s first try and it was converted by Steve Allen.
The second half started with both teams wanting to win. Six minutes into the second half and Leamington scored their second try (A Willman) but didn’t manage to convert it. A penalty was awarded to Bs and Steve Allen decided to go for three points but it just didn’t quite reach. At one stage in the game Bs were down to 13 men; as James had to come off for treatment to his shoulder. B’s did stay focused and managed to defend extremely well. The game ended at Leamington 10 – B’s 7, we did feel slightly cheated as the ball was awarded to B’s practically under the post in the last few minutes but the ref called full time for safety reasons as two men were down!
By the end of the game we were strewn with injuries. Steve Pheasant spent the whole of the game on and off the pitch treating the injured.
