A former Heart of England pupil has landed one of the leading roles in the ‘straight from Broadway’ showing of the “Scarlet Pimpernel” in Solihull…
Ian Page is one of a handful of Balsall Common connections involved in the show …
We spoke to Knowle Operatic Society Chairman Geoff Seabridge to find out more:
“This really is a FIRST for Solihull”, said Geoff “It’s the Premiere of this ‘straight from Broadway’ show and will be held at Solihull Library Theatre from the 14th to 19th March 2005
“There are a number of other [Balsall Common] connections – the Stage Manager, Peter Derrington, lives in Meeting House Lane, and there are 5 other members of the on-stage cast who live in Meriden or Balsall Common. These are Anneke Towler, Mike Johnson, Eleanor Warren, Jan Seabridge and Jakkie Lewis. So as you can see, there is a very strong Balsall Common connection!!”
“It is seriously going to be the biggest, most spectacular and certainly the most expensive show that Knowle Operatic Society has ever staged!”
BalsallCom.Com have had the privilege of finding out about this production early with Geoff adding,
“THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO GET FIRST CHOICE OF SEATS FOR WHAT WILL BE THE HOTTEST TICKET IN TOWN AND NEWEST SHOW TO HIT SOLIHULL”
“Performances run from MONDAY 14th MARCH TO SATURDAY 19th MARCH 2005
Mr Seabridge offered further background on the ‘Pimpernel’ story as he explained,
“With interest in all things French stimulated by the success of the long-running musical smash Les Miserables, it was perhaps inevitable that it would only be a matter of time before The Scarlet Pimpernel became the stuff of Broadway legend too.
There will be a strong demand for tickets and I would urge you to book as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
