Notable performances included Warwickshire star Dominic Ostler (45), Akhlaq Mohammed (42) and Ricky Blundell continuing his recent rich vein of form with a blistering 47.

“It’s great to see Ricky regain the form he showed as promising youngster along with a hardcore of lads coming through and showing they’re capable of performing at this level.” said skipper Milnes.

Hampton were left reeling at 40 for 4 in reply, recovered well to mount a challenge before Berkswell finally came out on top in a nervous finale. Hampton were finally bowled out for 221, just 18 runs short of their target with Berkswell’s Paul Thomas bowling extremely well to earn himself an impressive haul of 5 for 53.

Matthew Saghabashi, Berkswell Cricket Club’s playing matters and diplomacy expert explained,

“We nearly threw it away in the middle section of their innings where we were just going through the motions, luckily we woke up to their run chase and scraped through in the end.”

Saturday 2nd XI Slump to Shock Defeat!

Berkswell’s 2nd XI didn’t have such a thrilling outcome where their shock defeat drew an interesting explanation from club Chairman David Blundell who said,

“This week we were mediocre, not a single person shone. We were all distinctly average.”

Very well put.
