20/06/04 – Balsall Ninja’s massive Medal Haul
CraigyB writes “Youngsters from Balsall Common’s Ninja and Kung Fu school shocked the nation when they seized 4 gold medals and one bronze from the BCCMA British Championships.
Their feat, is all the more impressive given the BC school has only been established 18 months and the kids involved were competing in their 1st ever competition.
Among the medals were Morissa Bradnick, Alexander Currie, Grace Keeling and Summer Bradnick.
The BalsallCom.com team congratulate competitors and coach David Richardson on their phenomenal achievement.
The Sil Lum Kune (Balsall Common) school meet at the Village Hall on Mondays …
The Ninja Class meets at 5pm and the Kung Fu at 6.15. There is also a meet at the Heart of England School on Saturdays at 1.30pm.

18/06/04 – Bidding Bonanza at Charity Auction

Over 130 residents and colleagues packed the Heart of England School for the Balsall Common Village Hall Charity Auction on Saturday evening 12th. June raising £3000 towards the installation of a disabled toilet, disabled access and refurbishment of the present ladies’ & gents’ toilets. Jackie Tomnie estimates that there will be a further £500 – £600 profit from the raffle and ticket sales.

In a contest restricted to 35 overs a-side because of the ‘Eng-er-land’ football match, Berkswell’s 1st XI amassed an impressive looking 181 for 5.
